Following Matthew Morrison’s departure from the dance reality show, actress Leah Remini will replace him as judge. There’s a new judge for season 17 of So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD).
Remini is an actress, activist, television personality, philanthropist, and author with a net worth of $25 million. The official SYTYCD Instagram account announced on Friday, June 10, 2022, that Remini would join Stephen “tWitch” Boss and JoJo Siwa on the panel.
The actress also posted about her new position on social media. She stated in a statement:
“I’m pleased to be part of the 300th episode of So You Think You Can Dance.” As a fan of the show and a huge admirer of the dancers, I am thrilled to be able to coach these extraordinarily talented artists through this challenge. I can’t wait to see the artistry of the contenders on stage!
She is best known for her role as Carrie Heffernan on The King of Queens and for hosting the documentary series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.
Since she was little, the 51-year-old actress has been acting. She dropped out of school when she was 14 to pursue a career in acting. Leah made her first appearance in the 1988 comedy Head of Class.
Additionally, he has appeared on Saved by the Bell, Cheers, Who’s the Boss?, FRIENDs, and NYPD Blue. He has appeared on Dancing With the Stars and The Talk, two reality television shows.
It’s All Relative, the reality show co-created by Leah Remini and her husband Angelo Pagan, also featured Remini’s parents and other family members.
The Clapper and Old School, Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie are among Remini’s film credits. No, Really Productions is her own production company.
Matthew Morrison announced his departure from So You Think You Can Dance on Instagram last month. While he claimed he was fired for violating “production regulations,” rumors surfaced that he was fired for sending “flirtatious” text messages to a dancer.
Morrison refuted the allegations in an Instagram video in which he read the actual text conversation between him and the dancer. Additionally, he refuted allegations that he was fired from the show.
The Broadway star participated in the pre-recorded rounds of auditions. Leah Remini will join Stephen “tWitch” Boss and JoJo Siwa as a judge starting next week.
Although they had missed the previous panel, consisting of Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, viewers were already unhappy with the new judges.
Lythgoe (also co-creator of So You Think You Can Dance) and Murphy were on So You Think You Can Dance until season 16. Only time will reveal whether Morrison fans will miss him and give Remini a chance.
