SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Somerset County say a Meyersdale man is facing charges, accused of "impersonating a public servant" and "illegally removing an animal" from a local farm.
Investigators say on April 6th, troopers were dispatched to a farm along Greenville Road, in Greenville Township, for reports of a dispute over a farm animal.
Police say 60-year-old George Porter allegedly stole a Mouflon Ram from the victim's farm.
Authorities say Porter reportedly displayed a badge and identified himself as "an officer of the law."
Upon further investigation, police learned that Porter had been elected as a constable in Greenville Township, but reportedly "had not completed any courses necessary to perform any duties."
According to online court records, Porter is charged with impersonating a public servant, official oppression, theft and criminal trespass.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have received "similar treatment" from Porter to contact PSP Somerset at 814-445-4104.
