Johnstown city council withdraws proposal for homeless shelter funded by American Rescue Plan Act

Johnstown city council met for a regularly scheduled meeting this evening.

The potential construction of a non-congregate homeless shelter was once again on the agenda. The funding for the shelter would come from the city’s American Rescue Plan Act grant through the HUD Home program. The city received only one proposal that met the required criteria. That proposal was from Victim’s Services and was tabled at previous council meetings. Today, council voted to withdraw it.

“The vote on the homeless shelter was to withdraw the application," said Johnstown City Manager, Ethan Imhoff. "It was a 4-2 vote to take the application off the table and withdraw it from consideration.”

The next Johnstown city council meeting will take place on November 8th.
