Johnstown man accused of tying up, assaulting 3 women receives sentence

A Johnstown area man accused of tying up and assaulting multiple women inside a home in the Prospect section of the city has been sentenced.

Authorities with the Cambria County DA's office confirmed that Daniel Boyer was sentenced Wednesday to 15 to 30 months in prison, followed by 12 months probation, after pleading guilty to three separate counts of unlawful restraint.

  • At Count 6, Unlawful Restraint (M1), 9-18 months in the Cambria County Prison
  • At Count 7, Unlawful Restraint (M1), 6-12 months in the Cambria County Prison followed by 12 months probation, to be served consecutively (after) his sentence at Count 6.
  • At Count 8, Unlawful Restraint (M1), 6-12 months in the Cambria County Prison followed by 12 months probation, to be served concurrently (at the same time) with the sentence at Count 7.

Boyer was arrested last September after police received a distress call about a home along Ebensburg Road, where authorities say officers discovered three women who had been bound.

Police noted that trip wire had also been placed throughout the home.

Officials add that a review hearing will be held in November to determine whether or not Boyer is allowed to receive inpatient treatment while incarcerated.
