Barger beats incumbent Gregory for 80th District's Republican nomination

Voters in the state House’s 80th District will have the chance to vote for a new Republican candidate this November.

Candidate Scott Barger has secured the Republican nomination in Tuesday’s primary with 5,396 votes cast in his favor in Blair County, according to unofficial election results.

He also scored an additional 252 votes in Huntingdon County.

The nod comes as an upset for state Rep. Jim Gregory, who secured 4,434 votes in Blair County and 215 in Huntingdon County, according to unofficial results.

Gregory has served the 80th District, which consists of several Blair County municipalities and parts of Huntingdon County, since 2019.

There were no Democratic candidates listed on the ballot in Tuesday’s primary race.

The upcoming election is scheduled for Nov. 5.
